The Project

A client contacted us, asking for an analysis of how debit cards are issued in Germany. The company wanted to gain a better understanding of not just the issuance process but also a snapshot of the current players in the market and their relative portfolio sizes.

Specific Area of Interest

The client was interested in a deep dive into exactly which banks currently issue debit cards in Germany as well as how the cards are processed, including whether this work is done in-house or whether it is outsourced to a third-party business. The client was also particularly focused on co-branded cards and collaborations between banks and merchants.
